Nathaniel Licon is just 7 months old. He's alone in a hospital with a severe head injury. His parents are behind bars, accused of attempted murder and child endangerment.

The boy's aunt, Connie Roman said, "I believe Laura is innocent."

She says his parents rushed Nathaniel to the hospital on Friday. Moments later, police showed up, questioned and arrested them in the emergency room. Investigators say the stories the parents gave and the injury just didn't match up.

Sergeant Amy Watkins said, "What caused the injuries is still under investigation but it was enough where officers believe there was some negligence on the parent's part."

It doesn't make sense to Roman. She says Castro has two other kids and would never hurt them. But she questions Licon. She says he hasn't been in his son's life until recently and he was in a room alone with the boy when he got hurt. "I don't know Mr. Licon but I think...maybe something happened that we don't know."

To make matters worse, she says the hospital is denying the family visitation. All they know is Nathaniel survived internal bleeding and a blood clot and he is in critical but stable condition.

"He's the happiest baby ever, you can look at him and he'll smile," Roman added, "he knows our voices, we are family we have the same sound and he needs that."

Family members say the parents are not together. They are expected to be in court on Tuesday.
