Walmart Launches New $2 Million Facebook Challenge to Fight Hunger

April 10, 2012 Updated Apr 11, 2012 at 11:09 AM PDT

After a monumental effort on Facebook last year to help eradicate hunger, Walmart is once again announcing a campaign for valley residents and Facebook “fans” help support their communities to win a portion of the $2 million in grants for hunger relief in a new Facebook challenge.

Starting April 9 through April 30, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation are encouraging people around the nation to cast their vote on the Fighting Hunger Together Facebook site, choosing from a list of 200 communities where unemployment rates are the highest.

The community with the most online support will receive $1 million in grants and the next twenty communities with the highest support will receive $50,000 each to help fight hunger.

Last year Fresno finished the competition in a close second place.

The Fresno, Merced, Visalia, Porterville, Hanford, Corcoran, Madera and Chowchilla communities can vote for their communities HERE.
