Three people in California have died from the West Nile Virus and two right here in the valley.
Cleta Pierce says her husband likely contracted the virus on a fishing trip. It's a diagnosis that took them by surprise.
"When he found that out I think he was just ready to say Lord come get me and that's what happened I think," said Cleta Pierce.
Health officials recommend if you're outside use repellent, and keep yourself covered in long sleeved clothing.
