A triple stabbing Monday morning claimed the life of a 46-year-old woman. It also left a second woman fighting for her life, and a Fresno Police officer injured.
"Disastrous, totally disastrous, I won't be going outside for quite awhile."
Police believe the man responsible is 26-year-old Michael Crockell. They say he entered the woman's apartment, stabbed her to death, and stabbed her roommate several times. He then pulled his knife on responding officer Jonathan Linzey.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said, "Some type of struggle ensued between the officer and the suspect and at that point the suspect stabbed one of our officers in the back of the head."
Crockell was eventually tased by police and arrested.
"It's scary, it's scary. You never know when it's gonna happen."
It's a frightening reality for people in the neighborhood. But one neighbor who lived in the apartment above the victim says she's not that surprised.
"We had some trouble with her, um, a lot of trouble with her. She had some mental health issues so she would have the police here a lot."
Kim Kershner says the suspect was also a neighbor and that he and the victim were friends. She saw him at the apartment quite often. "It's very scary and um it's very disturbing I wish there could have been some... I wish it could've been avoided. I think there was a lot of signs."
