The fire broke out late Thursday afternoon. Eight other homes in the area were evacuated. Neighbors say the home that was destroyed belonged to an elderly couple who were moving in to a convalescent home and had the home up for sale. By nightfall, firefighters had the blaze under control. All working firefighters from Fresno, along with Clovis firefighters and Cal Fire came out to battle the fire. It was the largest call out in Fresno County in 20 years.
