Fundraiser in Honor of Officer Javier Bejar

Reedley and Orange Cove High School students held a car wash Saturday morning, to raise funds for a scholarship in honor of fallen Reedley Police Officer Javier Bejar. The officer was killed in a shoot out with a suspect in Minkler, late last month.

A high speed chase in central Fresno Friday night ended in a spectacular crash into a building at Palm and Belmont. It started with a manhunt for a wanted gang member. Police say he was making terrorist threats earlier in the day. They found him in Central Fresno. He tried to get away, but crashed after the high speed chase.

Guilty of 1st Degree Murder

A verdict was reached Friday morning in the case of Manuel Mancilla, 25. He was convicted of the first degree murder of Reyna Cedano, 29. The victim was shot to death in a Chuck-E-Cheese parking lot in September 2008. The men knew each other and were fighting over a woman. The victim's family members say justice was served with the verdict.

Fresno Police Officer Involved in Fiery Accident

Police would not elaborate on the accident, other than to say the motorcycle officer involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. The driver of the other car is in her 20's and was not injured. Residents say there's always accidents at Bullard and Fruit. They say the intersection has needed a left turn light for a long time.
