Max James Hunt was born on April 28, 1926 in Yakama, WA. He passed away peacefully on March 11, 2009 at the age of 82 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Max moved from Yakama to Fresno in 1936, and he graduated from Fresno Tech High School. During WWII, Max enlisted in the Army and served in the Military Police. After the war, he married Bette Giuntoli on November 23, 1947. Max once again served in the Military Police during the Korean War and was stationed at Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands where he witnessed the testing of the hydrogen bomb.

Max was a very hard working, successful business owner. Max’s interests included fishing, boating, golf, and building and fixing things in his workshop. He also had wonderful memories of spending time with his family and friends at his cabin at Shaver Lake and his second home in Morro Bay, and later Los Osos.

Max is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bette Hunt, his two daughters Cindy Larson, and Lori Rice and her husband Howard, his two grandchildren Eric and Leslie Larson, his sister Frances Black and her husband Ken, his sister in law Emily Boitano, and his nephew Joseph Boitano.

Our family would like to thank all the special angels at Asera Care Hospice and Golden Living Center for providing excellent care and for all their support and kindness.

Service will be Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 12 Noon in St. Peter’s Cemetery Mausoleum.
