Fresno City Council candidate questions appointment decision

By Jon Brent

It's being called 'politicking", but Fresno City Council District 4 challenger Susan Good says voters in District 4 are not happy with the council’s decision to move forward with an appointee for Larry Westerlund.

Westerlund is being called to active duty in Iraq, and says this is too important a time to question the process of representing his district during his absence.

Westerlund is being called to duty on May 15, about a month later from his initial orders to report.

Now, challenger Susan Good says the city council should hold off of the appointee process until after the election on June 3. Westerland calls this effort political gamesmenship.
