The sheer strength and majesty of the great white shark conjures up respect and, for most of us, fear. But is it fair to vilify the great white?

It may be tough to understand but some of the shark's most ardent defenders are those who've either had close calls in the water or have actually been attacked.

Faith Sidlow spoke with one survivor who's working to develop a safe, inexpensive and practical shark shield, while helping save the species from an uncertain future.
