Nearly half of all teenagers say it's easy to get alcohol from an adult in their life, according to the American Medical Association. It's those kinds of statistics - and a local tragedy - that have the state of California taking action through TRACE, or "Target Responsibility for Alcohol-Connected Emergencies."

TRACE investigators work with local law enforcement to track down the source of the alcohol. When underage drinkers have a run-in with the law, the adult or business which provided the alcohol could face charges and fines as well.

Here is an update to the story that aired Monday, Feb. 4, 2008:
Total investigations: 285
Fatalities: 204
Arrests: 43
Accusations: 35 (Accusations involve ABC filing action against ABC licensed businesses that allowed alcohol to get into the hands of minors who were later injured or killed in a crash or other type of alcohol-related incident.)
