The State of Real Estate

By Jon Brent

There are roughly four times as many notices of default than foreclosures in Fresno at this time. Resource providers at the Housing Resource center say Banks are finally starting to recognize they have to work with homeowners in trouble.

The challenge is to get homeowners in touch with resource providers. Many don't know where to go. A simple solution is to call the local crisis hotline: 234-1492. That's "No Homeowner Left Behind", they'll take your call and point you in the direction you need to go to hopefully save your home. NHLB also has a website: www.nohomeownerleftbehind.org

At the same time, buying home now just maybe a good proposition. Real Estate agents say there are plenty of properties for sale and interest rates are low. The key to buying now, say agents, is plan to be in your home for 5 or more years and seek loan products that are FHA or 30 year fixed rates.
