UPDATE: KSEE 24 News will air the results of our test on Monday, July 28th at 6pm on KSEE 24 and at 10pm on KAIL.
Preston Phillips: "Over the next month we'll test Hydromotion's Hydrogen Fuel Enhancer on one of our news vehicles and on Wednesday, July 23rd we'll deliver the results right here on KSEE 24 News at 6. Hydromotion guarantees big results, but can it live up to its claims?"
Its everywhere you go, dirty filthy air, gas prices through the roof, nearing $5.00 a gallon for regular unleaded, causing motorists everywhere to think twice before getting behind the wheel.
But what if there was a way to ease your pain at the pump and help clean the air you breathe, while you drove.
A group of developers at a California based company called Hydromotion says they have the solution and they claim their device that adds hydrogen and oxygen to your fuel, will increase your gas mileage to the point where you're saving 40 percent every time you fill up, no matter the price at the pump.
Mark Roberts, Hydromotion: "Diesel, regular fuel injection, regular carborated engine, any internal combustion engine can use this unit and be benefitted by it."
It’s called the Hydromotion Hydrogen Fuel Enhancer or H.F.E. and this is how it works.
You pour about 6 ounces of distilled water inside the device.
When the car is turned on, electrolysis begins, creating a charge between two metal plates, which in turn creates the separation of hydrogen and oxygen.
That mixture is then transferred through a fuel line into the intake manifold of your vehicle.
The hydrogen and oxygen then mixes with the fuel, and that they say, results in a better combustion in the cylinders.
Roberts: "So you're burning all of the gas that's going into the cylinder, versus getting hot spots in the piston head. As a result, it gives you a full stroke, which translates into miles per gallon."
So does it really work?
To find out, we had one installed in one of our news vehicles. A 2000 Jeep Cherokee with 190,000 miles.
But before the installation, a few diagnostic tests had to be performed to make sure the jeep was in tip top running condition and so we could be guaranteed the most accurate test results.
Roger Vogt, automotive expert: "We're hopefully going to see maybe a small increase in power and as we go along and give the system a chance to work. Hopefully, maybe a 10/20% gain. If we get a 20% gain, that's astronomical."
On average, the Cherokee gets about 19 miles to the gallon.
Hydromotion says it can guarantee us an increase of 20 to 40 percent, which means we should be able to expect on average, 23 to 28 miles per gallon.
Gene Johnson, Hydromotion: "I’d say between 25 and 30 possibly, even that, with gas prices going up, you're gonna save a lot of money to pay for the unit itself, plus even if the price of gasoline goes down, you're still gonna save money because you're gonna be able to go further on a gallon of gas."
"This is not weegiboard science, this is bonafide solid scientific evidence that this works."
Next, the jeep is pulled into the bay at Roger Vogt's Performance Automotive in Visalia.
Then the technicians get to work, securing the Hydrogen Fuel Enhancer next to the engine and attaching a fuel line from the device, to the intake, where the hydrogen and oxygen will mix with the fuel.
A necessary gauge is also installed inside the cab of the Jeep.
Normally the gauge would be placed in the dash, but for visual purposes we installed it here.
Roberts: "The light here is an L.E.D. that senses the water level in the unit itself and this is the amp meter which gives you the power number of amps to monitor."
A few hours later, the Hydrogen Fuel Enhancer is installed and we're ready to hit the road and find out if Hydromotion’s claim to save us money and increase our miles really adds up.
Vogt: "It all depends on the condition of the motor, driving habits that type of thing. Hopefully we're gonna get an increase in this and in 30 days we'll see what happens and hopefully we'll get some good news out of it."
Phillips: "Hydromotion’s Hydrogen Fuel Enhancer costs $1,200.00, not including installation. But its makers say the cost of the device will quickly pay for itself with the money you'll save at the pump.”
Part two of Mileage Miracle will air right here on KSEE 24 News at Six on Monday, July 28th.
That's when the test results of the hydrogen fuel enhancer will be revealed.

The reason it was high amping was the water being seperated out and burned, and leaving behind all of the minnerals. The minnerals are iron, zinc ,lead, mercury and who knows what else.
