Believe it or not, our national forests contain some of the most polluted areas in America. What's left of ouir wilderness is being destroyed by drug cartels who use the land for growing marijuana. Earlier this year, we showed you the works of the High Sierra Volunteer Trail Crew that cleans up after these cartels. KSEE 24 News took another hike with the Trail Crew, whose efforts are now inspiring similar clean-ups across the state. Justin Willis reports.

I watched this video carefully because I volunteer with this group. I believe that Justin Willis did a great job in capturing what we do and why. The problem is a serious, but solvable one, providing that we continue to use volunteers to keep the cost of reclamation low.

For cleaning up toxic grow area's I think they should provide the,"VOLUNTEERS" with proper suits and mask its diffinitley a awsome thing you are all doin for the environment but safety procedures first...you and your health should come first....thank you for your work

This is such a shame. Prohibition is causing this kind of blight on America. Finding pesticides, herbicides, poisons, fertilizer, garbage and human waste centered around these illegal grow operations is going to become more commonplace if we don't take action now. The solution is clear: Tax and regulate the production, distribution, and sale of cannabis to adults. This will take the profits and power away from the illegal drug cartels and put them into the hands of honest Americans.
