A valley attorney, 65-year old Richard Berman, faces charges for resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer. It happened when one of his clients tried to bring a 12" hard plastic wrench into the courthouse.

A deputy denied the woman entry due to the wrench. She was cooperative and agreed to discard it outside, but Berman yelled to his client to give him the wrench, even though he was already inside the courthouse lobby.

The deputy told Berman he couldn't take in either, and tried to take it from him. Moments later, Berman and the deputy were shoving each other.

Several other deputies stepped in to help. Berman was then handcuffed and arrested. He was later released at the scene.
