It's a tragedy the nation won't forget... The lives lost, the tears and the stories of survival...
It's all difficult for Cathy Meis to understand.
She lives in Visalia, but Colorado is her home.
"It just brought back so many feelings"
She lived in Denver when the Columbine shooting happened.
Her kids were in the same school district.
The victims were people they knew.
"These were kids they played sports with, teachers had spouses that taught there...They lost friends, colleagues, students."
Her kids still live there.
Her son, Joey called last night to say he was alright, but his friend was killed at the theatre in Aurora.
"As a parent, I could hear in his voice some of the same feelings I had when he was in high school."
As we struggle to figure out why, we wiill remember the victims, the heroes and support the survivors.
"I think no matter what you do to try to keep the bad guys out...Once in a while, something is just going to happen...It's not specifically colorado, it just happened and it's totally unexplainable."
