Out of the chaos a picture is emerging of what happened as police deal with the overwhelming task of investigating Friday's shooting.
Lt. Paul Vance, Ct. State Police: "The detectives will analyze everything and put a complete picture together.
And we are learning more..
Police now say the gunman.. 20 yr. old Adam Lanza had at least three weapons, when he forced his way inside the school..
Dr. Wayne Carver, Ct. Chief State Medical Examiner: "It's the worst I've seen."
The medical examiner says that all of the victims he's seen were killed with an assault rifle..
"Each of the victims was hit more than once."
All of the victims bodies were removed from the building, and identified.
But the investigation is still far from over there.
An autopsy his still pending on the shooter and his mother nancy, who was killed and her home a few blocks away.
We learned she did not work at the school as some first thought, but police say they have recovered important information inside her home.
Lt. Vance: "Our investigators at the crime scene, the school and the secondary crime scene, did produce some very good evidence that can be used to paint the picture for how and why this occurred."
Balloons, candles, and flowers are piling up all across this small town.
Memorials to the victims as everyone here tries to cope with the loss of 20 small children, all first graders, and 6 adults.
Among the dead are principal Dawn Hochsprun and school psychologist Mary Sherlach who ran toward the gunfire to try and save the children.
Dr. Janet Robinson, School Superintendent: "Our teachers take care of little kids... And its unbelievable."

Enkeleda Kelmandi, New Britain, Ct. Teacher: "I don't know how somebody can just go in and shoot a 5 year old, seven years old, I don't know. I can't imagine it."
A horror that seems so inescapable in this community.
