This amateur video captured what is believed to be a killer whale attacking a group of sharks off a popular beach. The killer whale, also known as an orca, appeared to be herding the sharks towards the beach.
A marine scientist said the footage shows a classic orca hunting tactic. "I'd be picking that there would be several more killer whales in a staggered line out to sea from the beach there, so that whale that you see in the surf zone there is probably in there flushing fish offshore for the other ones to catch."
So who won? The orca appears to have swam away while a thresher shark ended up on the sand in shallow water struggling to stay upright in the waves.
