In her classroom at Our Lady of Victory school in Fresno, Lynn Mason tries her best to make learning fun and interesting. It's not always easy, but she's found that sometimes it's the simple things that make the biggest connections.

"I actually treat them like human being, not kids. Talk to them like they understand what you're saying, and give them the reasons and explanations for why I'm asking them to do things. They seem to really appreciate it."

Mason has been teaching 7 and 8th graders at OLV for the past 14 years now. She says the close knit community and the level of involvement is truly remarkable.

"Being able to be part of this is absolutely amazing. The families, the parents, the alumni."

Mrs. Mason students know she's unique and they appreciate it.

"She's a really fun teacher, really a fun person."

"She's a great teacher. She'll help and encourage you if you're stuck on something. She'll take the time to help you."

For Mrs. Mason finding a ways to help and inspire are daily challenges she's ready to take on. She loves knowing she can make a big difference in the people her students become.

"They're going through the phases of trying to figure out who they're going to be, and that's my biggest job as a junior high teacher is helping them want to be the best person they can be."

Congratulations to Lynn Mason, our KSEE24 Educator of the Week.
