"What is the meaning behind that poem?"
Another day, another chance to learn here at Wilson Middle School in Exeter. Christine Wegner is ready to take on the day with her 7th and 8th graders. She says the best way to really get through is simple.
"Its just talking to them as young adults. I think that's the most important thing is that what they want to be treated like."
Mrs. Wegner says she loves to have fun and joke around with her students. To her its an important part of the process.
"Its not just always about academics, even though that is important, that's a huge part of them learning. The biggest part is making that connection with students."
Those who sing Mrs. Wegner's praises say she devotes a lot of extra time to her kids, and works hard volunteering outside school for a number of different organizations.
Her students recognize that she's pretty unique.
"She explains it better than most teachers."
"She treats everybody the same."
"The biggest reward is just watching the students grow, watching them be successful. I think that's the biggest reward is being able to know you helped one of your students. That's what I enjoy about teaching."
