A CAL FIRE firefighter was injured Tuesday morning, while battling a house fire in Merced County.
The blaze broke out inside the garage of a home in Atwater. The firefighter was inside the home when a sheet-rock ceiling collapsed on him. Fire officials say he was pulled outside and treated.
A woman and her grandchild were also in the home, but escaped safely. The woman was taken to the hospital with chest pains. The firefighter was taken to the hospital and released.
