Police are looking for three men involved in a home invasion. It sent one man to the hospital.
Police say two men walked up to a Southeast Fresno home with a shotgun and forced their way through the door. Police say there was a family of four inside, two adults and two children. The suspects detained the family and ransacked the house; they stole cash, jewelry, a gun and what appears to be medical marijuana.
Police say the victims didn't know the intruders.
“We observed the activity of two two indoor marijuana grows and we believe that is what precipitated the crime. The robbers knew there was cash, drugs and weapons inside the home; that’s exactly what they took,” says Fresno Police Lt. Burke Farrah.
The scene drew neighbors out of their homes. “I’m concerned having a family and young kids having a home invasion makes you think twice,” says Nate Rawe. “We’ve had a few things on the outskirts of the neighborhood but nothing this close yet.” Lydia Romero, a nearby neighbor agrees. “I always come through here and everybody says hi. I’m going to have to be careful walking around with my nephew.”
A man inside the home was injured. Police say he was hit over the head and suffered minor injuries.
The three suspects got away. Police are looking for the two men that burst into the home; they are described as Hispanic males. The third man is an unidentified suspect that stayed in the car during the robbery.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark gray 2000 or 2002 model year Mitsubishi. If you have any information you're asked to call police. The number is (559) 621-7000 or you can call crime stoppers at (559) 498-STOP.
