For most people Christmas is a time to get together with family and exchange gifts. People that give gifts to total strangers make all the difference in the world to people who have nothing.

In the area around Ventura and G Streets, people at the large homeless camp there were just trying to take cover from the rain.

Except for Chris Pfalzgraff. He was standing out in the cold with his two sons.

They were handing out donated food and clothing to people that truly need it. He's not volunteering for any large charity group. He's compelled by his own experience. "I hit rock bottom pretty hard, I wasn't quite this far down, but I've seen it, it was real close, I just... I want to do it every year now, it just, it hits home hard."

I spoke with Chris' two sons. They said they actually enjoy handing out food in some of the worst neighborhoods.

His son Braxton said it makes him appreciate everything that he has. Although he did share with me, that he was extra appreciative of the pair of roller blades he had waiting under the tree this morning.

Later on KSEE24, we'll hear from people on the receiving end of kindness.
