Starting July 1, you are now required to have a Carbon Monoxide detector installed on every level of your home. But you may have questions about how and where to get one or what happens if you do not have one in your house. That's why KSEE Sunrise had the Fresno Fire Marshall in the studio on Friday to share what you need to know.
Typically, detectors will only cost you around 20 dollars and can be purchased from any hardware or home improvement store. Deputy Chief Mike Despain of the FFD says where you put the detector is up to you. Having one closer to the floor versus near the ceiling will not make that much difference. But, Chief Despain recommends you buy CO detectors that plug in and have battery back-up to give you an added level of security and protection.
