Fire officials say the drowning happened near the Skaggs bridge on Highway 145 at the San Joaquin River. Three men in their 20s decided to go for a swim at the bridge after a workout. One of them started to struggle and went under. After an extensive search, the man was pulled from the water unconscious. A Fresno County worker arrived and performed CPR on the victim. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, but later died.

Officials say everyone should pay close attention when it comes to river conditions. "Cold water... We just had this happen yesterday up the river. The current and them being tired after working out, and it led to this unfortunate event," noted Captain Mike Mollica of the Fresno Fire Department.
