The theme at the elections office Thursday was "the perfect pair."

Six "perfect pair" couples, each married for over 25 years, were appointed to perform ceremonies for dozens of other "perfect pairs."

"We met at the YMCA, the gym, and we were friends for several years. Just friends. Knew each other pretty well, and then we made a bet. Well, Rod made a bet with me, and then he won the bet so I had to go out to lunch with him."

"We met unexpectedly playing women's flag football together. Yeah."

"He was sitting in a car. It was, let's see, '85. '85-'86. Yeah, '85."

Love begins anywhere... Any time...

But this is was the place...

This was the time...

"By the authority vested in me..."

"I now pronounce you one."

"You may kiss your bride..."

Rod and Susan Anderson were among the "perfect pairs" chosen to perform wedding ceremonies...

"Well, I don't know that we're the perfect pair, but we make a pretty good pair."

Benito and Carmen Dungan were among those making it official...

The clerk's office averages 60 weddings every Valentines Day...

"Any plans for the honeymoon? Or is that none of my business?"

Ebonee Bates and Sarah Spencer have been together since last summer...

"July. So 8 months. 9. 7 months. 7 months."

Because of state law, they were turned away at the counter...

But that didn't stop them...

There are many secrets to marital success... But the Andersons offered this advice.

"We never let our arguments go too deep. There's a cut off point and both parties in the marriage can feel that cut off point when the argument shouldn't go any deeper."

By the way, the bet between the Andersons was that they'd never build a men's health club at the YMCA...

Well, they did.

And here are the Andersons... After 31 years of marriage.

Speaking of "perfect pairs," the elections office is sponsoring a sock drive, in conjunction with Valentines Day, for those in need of a "perfect pair" of socks.

Those socks will be donated to the Poverello House.

If you'd like to help, just drop off a new, "perfect pair" of socks at the county clerk's office at 2221 Kern Street in downtown Fresno.

The sock driver picks up again Friday at 8:30 a.m. and goes until 5:00 p.m.
