A Merced teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of his own father; the victim was found shot inside his garage.

The Merced Sheriff’s Department was called to the home Sunday night; deputies say the victim’s girlfriend called 9-1-1.

“It’s a quiet neighborhood, I am kind of in shock it happened here,” says Charles Fastenau a neighbor of the victim.

“One of my neighbors say someone had killed someone and I thought ‘oh my gosh, that's so scary.’ It’s so close to home,” says nearby neighbor Michelle Herrera.

51-year-old Arnold Allen was murdered.

“The girlfriend came to residence and found Arnold in a pool of blood,” says Merced Sheriff Mark Pazin.

Allen’s body lay inside the garage; deputies say he was shot in the head. The shots were fired around 1:00 p.m.; neighbors say they heard it happen.

When deputies arrived on scene, Allen's girlfriend was the only one at the home. An investigation led officials to Allen's two sons. “The 24-year-old was visiting and the 19-year-old was in and out over the past few months,” says Pazin

Anthony Allen was arrested in connection with his father's murder. Deputies arrested the older son, Antonie Allen on a parole violation. His involvement in the murder is still under investigation. “We're trying to determine a motive, the connectivity, the relationship between the father and two sons,” says Pazin.

Neighbors say the relationship seemed strained; the Sheriff's department had been to the home before. “Twice they came and went, we kind of figured something like this would happen,” says Lindsey Fastenau the victim’s neighbor.

It was a violent scene Sunday afternoon that has neighbors still talking.

The case is still under investigation. The Merced Sheriff's Department isn't saying how the youngest son is involved in the murder. As for the older son, police say he was on parole out of Sacramento for assault with a deadly weapon.

Both have been booked in the Merced County jail; no bail has been set.
