Fresno Sheriff Margaret Mims honored 31 peace officers today in downtown Fresno for going above and beyond the call of duty on that tragic day in Minkler.
Purple Hearts were presented to the wives of Joel Wahlenmaier and Javier Bejar. Bejar also received the Medal of Merit.
A Purple Heart and Medal of Honor was given to Fresno Sheriff Deputy Mark Harris.
Medals of Honor were also presented to Fresno Sheriff Sergeant Leo Lopez, CALFIRE Capt. Ron Eldridge and Fresno Sheriff Detectives Robert McEwen, Mark Chapman, Mark Eaton and Sergio Toscano.
Official Commendations Under Valor were awarded to Reedley Police Sergeant Todd Lowery, Reedley Police Officers Clinton Horne and Ryan Deuel, Sanger Police Corporals Jason Boust and Robert Theile, and Sanger Police Officers Eric Grijalva and Robert Pulkownik.
Official Commendations of Valor were also presented to Reedley Police Sergeant Terry Schneider, Reedley Police Lieutenants Joe Garza and Marc Ediger, Reedley Police Officers Jon Cardinalle and Zack Hild, Orange Cove Police Officer Guillermo Garza, CHP Officers Sean Haller and Rafael Rivera, Fresno Sheriff Sergeant Michael Chapman, Fresno Sheriff Detectives Ken Brookman and David Cunha, and Fresno Sheriff's Deputies James White, Jeffrey Simpson and Tom Grilione.
Official Commendation Under Acheivement was awarded to the Fresno Sheriff's Office Aviation Unit and Aviation Mechanic Chad Kuenzinger.
