Police have made an arrest in connection with the car accident that severely injured 16 year-old Bullard High School student Shaela Warkentin the night of March 8th.

In a press conference late Thursday morning, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer reported that Douglas Lindsey was taken into custody Wednesday, and has been charged with DUI.

Investigators say drug testing indicates Lindsey had high levels of the prescription painkiller Vicodin in his system at the time of the accident.

Shaela Warkentin was riding in the rear passenger seat of a Ford Mustang when the car was struck from behind while stopped at a red light on Barstow at Maroa.
