The Fresno County Sheriff's Office got a call about a man trying to take his own life. In the end, deputies were fearing for their own.
At about 5:25 Monday evening, a deputy responded to a home along East Thomas avenue by Willow avenue. When they arrived, they saw a man who had cut himself on the wrists and neck.
That man then charged the deputy. The deputy fired one shot, after which the gun jammed.
A struggle ensued. Another deputy arrived on scene a short while later.
More shots were fired and the suspect was killed at the scene. No deputies were seriously injured in the altercation.
Sheriff Margaret Mims did not release anymore info about the suspect, other than saying he may have been involved in other domestic incidents.
