The trial of Vanessa Rincon continue Wednesday. The Fresno mother is accused of stabbing her 3-year-old son over 20 times.

Wednesday, the jury heard testimony from Rincon's father. They also heard testimony from a doctor.

Cameras were not allowed in the courtroom. The initial incident happened back in May, when Fresno police say they found Rincon's son with over 20 stab wounds, mainly to his chest and stomach. Witnesses at the scene said he was then thrown down a flight of stairs.

The boy survived.

Wednesday, the doctor was called on to review photos of Rincon's son as he lay in a hospital bed.

Rincon's father was later called to the witness stand. The defense questioned him regarding his daughter's relationship with her children. He also disputed a police report quoting him as using the word "snapped" when asked about what happened with his daughter that day.

Officials say Vanessa Rincon confessed to stabbing her son in May, but she has plead not guilty. The trial resumes Friday at 9:00 a.m.
