Police tape surrounded The Sylmar Apartments in Fresno Tuesday morning. There were blood stains in the front and shattered glass in the back.
A neighbor said, "I live right here and it happened there...it's just too close."
The shooting woke this woman up at two in the morning. She tapped her foot nervously, exhausted from lack of sleep. She was afraid to show her face on camera.
"It affected me...I was scared because I didn't know where it was coming from...it seemed like it was in my patio," the woman said.
The shots were aimed at an apartment a few doors down. Police say the gunmen walked up and started shooting through the sliding glass door. Three people were hit, including two men in their 20's and an 18-year-old woman.
She was shot in the head and carried out on a stretcher. Moments later, Police scrambled to figure out what happened.
"We have locked down the area around the victim's apartment and we are going door to door canvassing the area to determine what took place."
Five other people escaped the apartment, including two kids, a 4-year-old and a 2-month-old. Police are not sure what led up to the shooting. One neighbor says it was a fight over a girl. Others say it was gang related.
A neighbor said, "It's crazy...it's like an assassin hit...it's more than a domestic thing, it's like a gang war that's going on."
The teenager is fighting for her life. The other two victims are expected to be okay. If you have any information, you are urged to call CrimeStoppers at 498-STOP.
