An orphan gets bitten by a radioactive spider in "The Amazing Spider-man." "The Social Network's" Andrew Garfield is the latest incarnation of the marvel comics webslinger. He's a moody teenager living with his aunt and uncle, who's out to solve the mystery of his parents' disappearance. He's also trying to solve Emma Stone, who plays his first high school crush. When both Stone and clues from his father's briefcase lead Garfield to doctor Curt Connors, it sets up a showdown of alter-egos that may shape the world's destiny. "The Amazing Spider-man" is rated PG-13.

Peaceful drug dealers face off against Mexico's most wanted in "Savages." Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch run a pot shop in southern California, along with their shared girlfriend, played by Blake Lively. But when the trio turns down a ruthless cartel's offer for a piece of their action, queen bee Salma Hayek sends her enforcer to kidnap Lively. Rather than give in, the boys launch a vicious assault with the help of a crooked DEA agent played by John Travolta. "Savages" is rated R.

A pop star exposes herself in "Katy Perry: Part of Me." Shot by the same company that filmed last year's Justin Bieber bio-pic, this backgrounder mixes stage performances with home movies of the young singer on her way to fulfilling her teenage dream. "Katy Perry: Part of Me" is rated PG.
