Staff members at a school in Newcastle, California are on the hunt for a goose that has what looks to be a plastic arrow piercing its body.
The injured goose was first spotted on Friday near the school.
The school's maintenance staff tried to lure the goose with food in hopes of capturing the bird, but it hasn't been easy.
Despite its injury, the bird is still reportedly fast and able to fly.
It was spotted again Thursday afternoon near the pond outside of the school.
Placer County Animal Control said it was first alerted about the injured goose April 6th.
A spokesman with Placer County Office of Education said Animal Control told them, "the arrow is not impeding the goose's ability to be mobile," and that the arrow would evenutally disintegrate or rot away.
Concerned neighbors said because the arrow looks plastic, they don't think that is likely to happen.
A manager for Placer County Animal Control later said that the Department of Fish and Game will be called to come out and give the bird the help it needs.
For now, school staff and neighbors said they hope the bird is not in too much pain.
