Daniel Paul Nachtigal was born August 29, 1921, and passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the age of 88.

Dan was one of seven brothers and one sister born into a farming family in Nebraska. As a young man, he raised prize-winning brown Swiss cattle, and kept a fondness for them and the farming lifestyle long after he had moved his family to California and on to other ventures.

He spent many years as an inspector for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, working closely with local fruit growers. In his retirement, he enjoyed travels with his wife Bernice, and spending his time building small reproductions of the wagons & horse-drawn buggies of his childhood.

Dan is survived by Bernice, his wife of nearly 66 years; children Yvonne & husband, Gary Wahlstrom, and Judy Nachtigal; grandson Randy Pinal & his fiancée, Heather. In addition, his life is celebrated by many relatives and friends who have cared for and supported him through his declining years.
