In 100-degree weather at Bulldog Diamond in the game that would send one team to the Fresno Regional Championship and one team home, the No. 12 Fresno State Bulldogs and No. 21 San Diego State Aztecs gave the crowd a regional game worth remembering.

The Bulldogs would prevail with a 2-0 win in the 11th inning after Aja Scheuber hit a single to right field. Jenna Cervantez then hit a single to center and the runner's advanced to second and third with one out in the top of the 11th off an error by the Aztec center fielder. Andrea Ortega then hit a single up the middle to score two.

San Diego State got its first runner on base since the fifth inning in the bottom of the 11th, but the Bulldogs retired the side and earned the berth in Sunday's championship.

Morgan Melloh finished with 11 strikeouts in the game and allowed only four hits. It was her second complete game of the day and she improves to 41-8. Christina Ross for SDSU also went the distance, strikeout out five and allowing two runs on 12 hits.

Haley Perkins, in her first start at third base since an injury at the WAC Tournament had a hit for the Bulldogs. Haley Gilleland led the team with three hits.

The Aztecs finish the season with a 44-17 overall record. Fresno State improves to 53-12.

The Fresno Regional Championship game featuring Cal and Fresno State will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Bulldog Diamond. Fresno State will be the designated home team. Since the Bulldogs have one loss in the double elimination regional, if Cal wins, they will earn the right to advance to the super regional and take on the winner of the Gainesville Regional. If the Bulldogs win game one, game two will be played approximately 35 minutes at the conclusion of game one with the winner of that game advancing.
