Hayley Munro scored a career high 28 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds to help lead Fresno State to a 68-59 victory over Utah State on Sunday afternoon at the Save Mart Center. Fresno State is 15-6 and 6-2 in WAC while Utah State dropped to 10-12 and 4-5 in conference.

"We are very pleased tonight with our effort," Fresno State coach Adrian Wiggins said. "I thought we had a really strong rebounding effort tonight and it really made a difference in the game. Throughout the course of the game we tried different things scheme wise and the players did a great job of doing it and still being aggressive. Utah State plays hard. They play everyone well and close and they are a good team."

The Bulldogs out rebounded the Aggies 48-27, with 24 coming on the offensive end. Munro had nine rebounds while Marnique Arnold had eight and Joh-Teena Filipe seven. Arnold had seven offensive rebounds while Filipe had six.

"We just had a great offensive rebounding effort," Wiggins said. "You can't take away from that. We had 24, which is three-times more than they did."

Munro scored her 28 points on eight of 15 shooting from the field and 11-13 from the free throw line. Bailey Amundsen and Jaleesa Ross each scored 12 points.

"We had a lot of good ball movement the whole game," Munro said. "It allowed me to get some open gaps and penetrate. It was nice. Everyone played well and Marnique also got an opportunity to get to the rack. I am just trying to do my role on the team, be consistent and work hard every game."

The game was close from the opening tip as there were eight ties and 10 lead changes. The Bulldogs took the lead for good at 40-38 at the 15:40 mark of the second half thanks to a 3-pointer by Ross. The lead was extended to 49-42 with 11:15 remaining after a jumper by Munro.

Utah State got within two at 52-50 with eight minutes to play but Fresno State countered with a 10-0 run to take its biggest lead of the game at 62-50 with 5:12 to play. The Aggies got no closer than seven points the rest of the way.
