  • Phillip Thomas Named to AP All-America First Team

    Fresno State senior safety Phillip Thomas was selected to the 2012 Associated Press All-America first-team.. With previous first-team All-America selections from the AFCA, Sporting News and the Walter Camp Football Foundation, coupled with Tuesday's AP selection, Thomas has now been named to four of the five organizations used in determining unanimous All-America status. He's already become the second consensus All-American in school history, joining quarterback Jackie Fellows (1942).

    Fresno State safety Phillip Thomas will receive the 2012 College Football Performance Awards Defensive Back Trophy. The award presentation for being the best defensive back in the country will take place at halftime of the Bulldog men's basketball on Wednesday night against Colorado. Thomas led the nation during the regular season with 8 interceptions, 3 of which he returned for touchdowns. Thomas was also named to his fifth All-America team on Monday when he was selected by ESPN.com.

Reports out of Denver say DeRuyter might be on Colorado's list of candidates for the Buffaloes head coaching vacancy. DeRuyter said his focus is on getting his team ready to play SMU (6-6) in the December 24th Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

    The Fresno State men's basketball team beat San Diego Christian 84-49. It's the Bulldogs largest margin of victory since 2006. Fresno State had 18 steals, 1 shy of tying the school record, while forcing 27 turnovers. Allen Huddleston had a team high 13 points. Jerry Brown chipped in with 12 points and 9 rebounds as the Bulldogs improved to 5-3 overall. The Bulldogs are on the road at Washington State Sunday at noon.
