All across the Central Valley, high school teams took their first step on the road to the Central Section Championships at Selland Arena. For some, it is the beginnings of a long journey that may well ultimately end up in Sacramento for the State Championships. For other teams, a single step is all they'll take this season.
Hanford and Clovis West are still on the march.
The Bullpups upset seventh-seeded Sunnyside 49-43 in their first round Division II matchup, while Clovis West outlasted Edison, 67-56, in their Division I matchup. Both victors face difficult challenges on Thursday night: the Bullpups will travel to Tulare Union, while Clovis West heads to Clovis East to take on their arch-rivals, the Timberwolves.
