  • Ricky Manning Jr. wants to be Head Coach of the Edison Tigers

    Ricky Manning Jr. is campaigning to be the next head football coach at Edison High School. Manning has no head coaching experience but he has been training and coaching athletes ever since he officially retired from the NFL last year. Manning spent six seasons in the NFL, playing with the Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams and the Oakland Raiders. Edison is looking to replace Tim McDonald, who left to be the defensive backs coach at Fresno State

  • Anisa Guajardo to kick it with the Mexican National Team.

    Former Buchanan High standout Anisa Guarjardo will by kickin' it with the Mexican National Soccer Team. Guarjardo, a junior at Pepperdine, will play in the upcoming women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament which begins Thursday in Vancouver, Canada. Mexico will face the United State January 24th in one of its three pool play matches. The top two teams from each of the two groups will advance to a knockout stage. The two winners from the knockout stage will qualify for the Summer Games in London. Guarjardo graduated from Buchanan in 2009 where she lead the Bears to four straight Valley Titles.

    Alex Fertig scored a game high 31 points to lead the Buchanan Bears over the Drillers in Bakersfield 55-47.

  • Deontay Greenberry named "Mr. Football" State Player of the Year

    Washington Union receiver Deontay Greenberry has been named the Cal-High Sports Mr. Football State Player of the Year. The senior receiver is just the fourth Central Valley player to be honored with the award. This season Greenberry set state receiving records with 2,165 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also led the Panthers to the Division III State Championship with a perfect (14-0) record. Greenberry has verbally committed to play at Notre Dame
