Fresno State-Fresno State knew it had a tough matchup against the University of New Hampshire, but despite their efforts, the Bulldogs fell 19-7 to the Wildcats in Bulldog Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
“There were a lot of things in our control that we just slip away today,” Head Coach Jessica Pausewang said. “I think the biggest thing we need to take care of are the details but, it makes us better for our next game. I know we are going to come out on fire this Saturday.”
Junior midfielder Paula Badali scored three goals leading the Bulldogs in scoring and picked up two ground balls. Holly Cisneros had six shots on goal, picked up three ground balls, and had one caused turnover.
The ’Dogs also received a solid effort from sophomore goalkeeper Lisa Barnaba. Barnaba had seven saves in the second half and also picked up a ground ball.
After falling behind 12-5 at the half, the Bulldogs came back out fighting scoring two more goals to end the game. Despite their 0-2 record Pausewang remains optimistic about this team and the talent they bring to the field.
“I think this is the most resilient group of girls that I have ever coached, which is wonderful. They are clearly not happy with losing but at the same time they look at the positive and figure out how we can make it better,” Pausewang said.
Fresno State continues to play at home in Bulldog Stadium this Saturday, as the ’Dogs host Long Island University at 1:00 p.m.
