FRESNO, Calif. – San Francisco Giants infielder Pablo Sandoval is anticipated to join the Fresno Grizzlies on Tuesday, June 5th on a Major League Baseball rehab assignment, the San Francisco Giants announced today.
Sandoval, 25, has played in two games with the Single-A Advanced San Jose Giants during the current rehab assignment entering today, batting .333 (3-for-9) with a double, a home run and an RBI. He will complete his stint with San Jose tonight in Stockton before joining the Grizzlies on Tuesday.
The 2011 National League All-Star was batting .316 (30-for-95) with five home runs and 15 RBI with San Francisco this season before being injured on May 2nd.
Sandoval played in five games with the Grizzlies during an MLB rehab assignment in 2011. Only the first of the five games, though, was in Fresno when the Grizzlies played the Las Vegas 51s on June 7th. Sandoval hit a home run and drove in four runs during the contest against the 51s.
