For 15 years, Pat Hill was as much a part of the Fresno State Body as an arm or leg. With him gone, many on campus say, it's like that limb has been severed.

Morgan Penner was saddened by the dismissal. "Just the vibe knowing that he's not going to be here, and his slogan about anyone, anywhere, anytime. Just disappointing that the university doesn't want to see that here anymore."

On the surface, it was business as usual. But if you eavsdrop on some of the groups hanging out around campus, and you'll find this is all anyone's talking about.

Many are in favor of Coach Hill's dismissal.

Jesse Beed, Freshman: "Maybe we need some new flavor."

Tony Doan, Sophomore:"Pat Hill's a good coach and all but I kind of seen it coming."

Anthony Jesus, Junior: "I'm kind of happy because Fresno State will probably get better recruits."

But many believe Fresno State is making a big mistake.

Senior James Allen was a little surprised. "I didn't think after one bad year, he was going to get fired after all the good he's done here."

Either way, the announcement that Hill was fired came as a shock, not just to students, but to parents as well.

It was an emotional morning for many. Andy Jennings' son is a sophomore defensive lineman.

He says Hill did the important thing and got students graduated. "He also helps out to be a father, be a mother to all these kids that's so far away. And for this school to let him go, that's just not acceptable."
