The Fuego 24-game undefeated streak came to an end on Sunday in the Western Conference Final at Chukchansi Park. The goal was to get back to the PDL Final Four for the first time since 2007 but the Kitsap Pumas beat the Fuego in a hard-fought match and are now the Western Conference Champions. Kitsap defender Taylor Hyde scored the game winning goal in the 89th minute.
The Pumas will host the PDL Final Four this coming Friday and Saturday, August 5-6. The other Final Four participants are the 2007 PDL Champions Laredo Heat, the 2008 Champions Thunder Bay Chill and the Long Island Rough Riders. The times for the games on Friday will be released by the USL soon. The final game on Saturday will be broadcasted live on FOX Soccer channel at 4:30 PM.
The USL will announce on Monday the All-Conference teams and on Tuesday the All-PDL team. The winner of the MVP Award will be announced on Wednesday and Fuego team captain Milton Blanco is one of the finalists.
