Central Valley children aren't getting the support they need. That's according to a new study released by "Children Now."
28 health and education indicators like obesity and graduation rates were evaluated. Fresno ranked in the lower third of California counties for almost half of them.
Fresno's neighbors like Kings, Merced, Madera and Tulare counties are also struggling with child welfare. Central Valley counties were placed in a group called "rural and low income."
Four out of five children in Fresno Unified School district are living in poverty. 55% of third graders are reading below their grade level.
