The sight of complex equations like this might make some people anxious, but not Barbara Simons. She not only understands them, she teaches them.
"When I walk in... This is the best job."
Barbara Simons teaches advanced mathematics at Edison High. She says sometimes it can be a challenge, but she has some techniques for sparking interest.
"When I'm working it out on the board... To be doing mathematics."
Simons loves teaching math so much, she also has some college classes at it, and she hosts the math team.
"Part of getting them to love math... You get a lot out of it."
Her students say she's easily one of the most dedicated teachers on campus.
"She goes out of her way... Always there for her students."
"She'll guide you... Slow you need it."
Congratulations to Barbara Simons, our KSEE24 Educator of the Week.
