Nicole Mora loves her job. To her its not work its fun. Her 5th grade class reminds her everyday why she got into teaching nine years ago.
"I have this rapport with them where we can chatter, or have a conversation, and maybe throw a little sarcasm in there. It's fun, it makes my day fun."
"Mrs. Mora is an outstanding teacher, because she makes learning fun."
Mrs. Mora also spends a lot of time with her students outside of the classroom. She organizes after school activities that focus on everything from the arts to athletics. And she also started a weekly challenge called the marathon mileage club.
"We have 300 students that come out every single Thursday, on their own time, during lunch-time, and they run. They're running anywhere from two laps, half a mile, to two miles."
"I'm not surprised that she got this award because I'm so proud of her, and she's just a great teacher."
"My students know, I tell them from the first week of school, they're my kids. I refer to them as my kids, whether I see them off campus, or on campus. They know that at the end of the year, when they say 'goodbye' they better come back and visit."
