Police say a man was shot in front of a home near Church and Elm in southwest Fresno Tuesday night after he confronted several people trying to break into his car.
The man was taken to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Shortly after the shooting police were searching the area and had blocked off a portion of Geneva Ave.
Investigators did not release a detailed description of the suspected car thieves, but did say they were looking for three people wearing dark clothing.
