Jett McBride is facing accusations of attempted murder, stemming from a bizarre incident back on February 1st.

But things were about to get even more bizarre at his preliminary hearing as Kai took the witness stand.

"I will tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth."

"Just a moment... Listen to the clerk as she states the oath to you, so that you can respond. And you only need one hand up. The right hand."

Three key witnesses took the stand. The victim, Rayshawn Neely, the woman who tried to help him, Tonya Ann Baker, and yes, the hitchhiker known as Kai.

Each one described their account of what happened that day.

"He grabbed her, and I ran up and I smashed him in the back of the head."

"We tried to get McBride to leave him alone, and at that time, it wasn't happening, and that's when my daughter tried to stop him. That's when he got a hold of me."

"He comes over and tries rushing me. I back on up and grab the bag. I'm thinking I'm going to have to lure him on over. I hear afterwards is hearsay. That's the point where..."

"Just a moment. You've already answered the question. Next question."

Kai had to be put in check several times by the judge.

Attorneys were visibly frustrated by him as he continually got carried away with his answers.

"Is that the marijuana you obtained?"

"This is what schwag looks like."

"Just answer the question. Is that marijuana you obtained Feb. 1st?"

"Yeah."

But things would get emotional during the afternoon portion of the hearing.

Rayshawn Neely testified from his wheelchair, recalling the defendants actions that day.

It would bring McBride to tears prompting him to speak out once Neely ended his testimony.

"I'm sorry, Rayshawn."
