The search continues for a suspect in a string of arsons in the Central Fresno area.
Authorities say gang revenge likely fueled three fires at two separate markets.
Deputy Fire Marshall Don MacAlpine says, "We don't expect that the owners are involved whatsoever other than being just innocent victims in the wrong place trying to do an honest living and serve their immediate community and now their victims. It's very unfortunate."
The arson started back in February. The Lewis market was set on fire first. Several weeks later, the Bond Street Market was targeted. Both stores stand in two separate neighborhoods, home to two different gangs.
MacAlpine says, "It's an area involving two iconic structures representing area gangs."
Authorities say it appears the fires were an act of retaliation.
"It's not unusual for gang members to use arson as a weapon."
The crime was all caught on tape. Surveillance video at the Bond Street Market shows two people launching Molotov cocktails at the store. Just three nights later, the criminals were back at it.
"We were able to capture some very good images."
Those images led to the arrest of a juvenile. Authorities are still searching for a second possible suspect, 19-year-old Christopher Rocca.
This is the first major problem at Bond street Since it opened 20 years ago. One worker says he won't let the crime scare him away.
"We keep business. I'm not going to go nowhere. I'm not."
For neighbors, it is a scary situation. Francisco Ceja has lived in the neighborhood for 18 years.
"I worry about my kids and everything right here, and my family because you never know what can happen," says Ceja.
The fires did not affect business at the Bond Street Market. The Lewis Market was forced to close due to damage. Owners say it will likely be another few months before they can reopen.
