A Fresno animal rescue group aims to save homeless animals, one old computer at a time.
Today, the Animal Compassion Team held a free electronic recycling event at the Northgate Shopping Center. The electronics piled up, with people eager to get rid of old computers, televisions, and vacuum cleaners. The center partnered with the Al Green Recycling Company and will receive 13 cents for every pound recycled. ACT is a non-profit group that provides a safe haven for homeless animals. The group has just opened a new shelter and plans to house about 300 animals at a time.
Holly Ellsworth, Animal Compassion Team says, "The money that we get from this pays for spay and neuter, all the vet bills and just rescuing more animals and getting them into loving homes."
The Animal Compassion Team will be holding an animal adoption event at the Macy's in River Park, October 20th.
